How Do I Connect To My Shell With Remote Desktop Connection (RDC)?

One of the most commonly asked questions is "How do I connect to my Shell with RDC?".
To use a Remote Desktop Connection with your Shell:
- You will need to subscribe to a dedicated IP address and have it activated on your Shell. Note your Dedicated IP address. This is your Shell IP address.
- Within your Shell, enable remote connections.
To enable remote connections, open up your Settings: - Select System.
- Type Remote in the option box and select Remote Desktop Settings.
- Toggle Enable Remote Desktop to On and accept the confirmation.
- From the Windows search bar, type Firewall and select Allow an app through Windows Firewall.
- Ensure Remote Desktop is enabled for Private and Public.
- From the Windows search bar type CMD and open the Command Prompt.
- Type whoami and note the response. This is your username.
- Type ipconfig and note the response. The Default Gateway IP is required for MacOs remote connections.
- On your local machine, open your Remote Desktop Connection.
- Click Show Options. Add your Shell IP address under Computer and your username under Username. Click Allow me to save credentials if preferred.
- If using a MacOS device, the Gateway address is the Default Gateway IP.
- Click Connect. If a successful connection is made, you will be prompted for the Username password (same as login password).
- Accept the certificate acception prompt on the initial connection.
- You're now connected to your Shell via a Remote Desktop Connection.
