DaaS is a modern way of providing the virtualized desktop environments to anyone and I think the idea is revolutionary

Linux was first released in 1992. Since then, it has come a long way.

We all love Linux so much. It is everywhere and it has changed the whole open-source world. Most of the servers these days run Linux. In the beginning, there was no graphical layer on Linux and it was used only for servers. Still, Linux is struggling in the desktop world.

In the age of cloud business, today we can get virtualized Operating System with the click of a button. The services like AWS EC2 made it possible and It was a game invention in the cloud business. We have also seen that big giant also provides MacOS as a service.

Installing Desktop Linux on bare metal was always painful for me. Like other people, I didn’t have a powerful workstation to speed up the process. I still remember my first Ubuntu boot on my trash laptop which took about one and half hours to complete the installation process. Even if you use VMWare or Virtualbox it is going to take around 15–20 minutes to boot up. Again so painful.

Wouldn't be great if some vendor provides you Desktop as a Service? This is exactly what Shells have been providing.

I have been using it for about one month now. It is cool. And wanted to share my experiences in this article.

Let me tell you what DaaS is first.

Shells is a cloud-based Desktop as a Service that provides a variety of major browsers to turn any device screen into a desktop anywhere an internet connection is available.

Over the month, I have been using it on both my phone and laptop. It is great. Even if you are outside, you still have the desktop in your pocket and can work directly from there.

Actually, I have written a blog about the Shells previously. I’ve included everything about Shells’s Desktop as a Service.

But in this article, I want to share my experience with shells and how they can be reliable for businesses.

In the age of serverless and cloud, you get anything as a service you want. Desktop as a Service is no surprise.

In order to understand why you should use this service, you first should understand what this is and why you should one. Desktop as a Service is a cloud-based virtualized Desktop environment powered by a fleet of computers located around the world.

Let’s discuss some key of the advantages of using DaaS:

1. Dekstop anywhere on any screens

You can use your desktop anywhere. It is really cool for me. I can even turn my cellphone into a desktop and work on the move.

2. No worry about the IT issues

Most suffer from these issues especially non-IT people who do not know how to solve even a simple issue. This issue will be removed since there will highly be experienced and skilled professionals working in the background to make everything possible for you.

3. Privacy

Privacy is critical in today's digital era. The connection between your device and service is very secured and encrypted so it will be more secured than your own local desktop.

4. Reliable

DaaS is reliable. Since there are highly skilled professionals working together to make it possible, and you can use it for your daily work.

5. Affordable

Most of the cloud services these days come with either subscription-based or pay-as-you-go-based. DaaS is subscription-based and is affordable.

Final Thoughts

Since more and more businesses are demanding the DaaS, there will be a lot of improvement in this service. With the more business moving cloud, the cloud business has grown significantly over the last few years. In the beginning, it feels weird to use someone’s desktop, It happens with every new invention but over time people will start to use it, and becomes an integral part of our lives. That’s how every new technological innovation has gone through over the years. It is just a part of the process.
